According to a chart I have on production figures of the Models 39 A, 39 M, 39 C and 39 D ( well, all the 39 series from 1952) there were only 6 39 M's made in 1980. For some reason, production on the Model 39's was quite low for several years (1977 to 1983).I have been offered a Marlin 39A for $360.00 which has serial number " B 596 " (not sure of the year) The rifle still shows case color on the receiver and the bore and crown are good plus. There is some thinning of the blue under the bullet tube near the forend with a few minor surface rust blemishes but no pits.

The bluing is still good and the receiver has some case coloring still in good shape. Is this a 1940 rifle or a 1941. Can't get over how smooth this rifle works.
